As the leaves begin to change their colors and the weather takes on a cooler edge, we can't help but feel the anticipation building for our 12th annual MOVERS FOR MILITARY® campaign. This heartwarming initiative, perfectly timed with the approach of Veterans Day on November 11, is a cause close to our hearts as we team up with Veterans Village of San Diego (VVSD).
Alicia Sorber, our local franchisee, perfectly captures the essence of this campaign: "MOVERS FOR MILITARY® allows us to give back to those who have served our country and found themselves in hard times. Veterans Village of San Diego does vital work in our community, and it is an honor to help them in their mission, even if it’s in a small way."
A Look Back:
Can you believe it's been twelve years since we launched this incredible journey in September 2012? Back then, with only a couple of months under our belt, we felt the call to support veterans, and we haven't looked back since!
Now, as we celebrate our 12th year, we're amazed at the journey we've shared. MOVERS FOR MILITARY® was born from those early moments, and today, it's a testament to the impactful journey we've experienced together. This endeavor is all about community, heart, and staying true to our commitment to veterans.
Our dedication to community service has strengthened since those initial stages. Over the years, we've expanded our reach and impact, touching the lives of countless individuals and families. Reflecting on the past twelve years, we're filled with gratitude for the community's support and the opportunity to make a positive difference. Looking ahead, we remain committed to embodying THE GRANDMA RULE® in every move and continuing our mission to serve with excellence and compassion.
The Impact of Military Influence on Our Team
At TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® San Diego, our team is more than just movers; we're a family that includes veterans among us. Our General Manager, Enrique Alvarez, stands as a proud testament to this commitment, bringing not just professional expertise but a deep understanding of the sacrifices made in service to our country.
His firsthand experience adds a unique layer of empathy and respect to the work we do. For us, the MOVERS FOR MILITARY® campaign transcends the boundaries of business; it's a heartfelt dedication to honoring and supporting those who've selflessly served our nation. It's about recognizing the commitment that veterans like Enrique bring to our team and ensuring that their contributions are celebrated beyond the uniform.
Bringing the Community Together
One of the most heartening aspects of MOVERS FOR MILITARY® is the way our San Diego community rallies around the cause. We partner with local businesses, schools, and stores, placing collection boxes to make it easy for you, our fantastic customers, and neighbors, to contribute. Enrique Alvarez highlights this community spirit, saying, "It’s very important to recognize the area’s service. Each year, we do get more than the previous year. Sometimes, we have hundreds of boxes of items that we need to donate. The city does come together to help our veterans."
Wishlist and Your Generosity
This year, our focus was on items that could truly make a difference in the lives of veterans transitioning to civilian life. We asked for your help, and you delivered! From warm menswear for the chilly days to recovery-themed books and movies, along with writing instruments and notebooks for recreational purposes – your generosity has been overwhelming.
Our Marketing Coordinator, Gaby Mariduena, sums up the essence of MOVERS FOR MILITARY®: "It's more than a program—it's a heartwarming journey of connecting, supporting, and honoring our military community. It's not just business; it's about spreading smiles and gratitude one move at a time."
