Boomerang Employees at Two Men and a Truck

In today’s job market, it is not unusual for employees to switch jobs in order to find the best opportunity for them both personally and professionally. However, there has been an uptick in recent years of individuals who leave a company and find their way back. These individuals are referred to as “Boomerang Employees”. Upon their return, they bring with them a fresh outlook as well as valuable experience. In this blog post, we would like to share the stories of two of our very own boomerang employees, Zach and Ryan.

Meet Zachary Stirk

Zach’s journey with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK began in 2017 when he joined the team as a Mover. He rose to the Driver position in 2018 and from that point, he became a go-to driver for us. He quickly became a trusted member of our moving team, known for his reliability, work ethic, and dedication to making each move a success.

However, after a year, Zach decided to pursue a different career path. He rejoined the team back in 2022 after working at a warehouse. One key factor that prompted Zach to leave his warehouse job in favor of joining us was the demanding third-shift schedule. TMT offers scheduling flexibility that enabled Zach to achieve a healthy work-life balance.

When asked about his favorite part of working at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK since being back, he said traveling! Especially coming from a warehouse position where travel opportunities are not available. Zach, along with his partner and friend, Trenton, have been to Colorado, Massachusetts, Vermont, and many more! TMT provides a sense of independence that allows Drivers like Zach to foster personal and professional growth.

Meet Ryan Murnane

Ryan started as a Mover, just like Zach, with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK back in 2020. His dedication and strong work ethic earned him the respect of his fellow movers and management team. Ryan eventually decided to explore other employment opportunities. During his time away from TMT, Ryan worked with his dad’s renovation company where he expanded his skill set and learned valuable information to further him in his career.

Earlier this year, we had the pleasure of welcoming Ryan back to the TMT team, this time as a Driver! The location and sense of community were just two of the factors that made him want to return. When asked about what he missed about working with us, he said seeing new people each day and getting to interact with customers on a personal level. Ryan also expressed a strong appreciation for the communication provided by the management team.

Ryan, like Zach, has also forged meaningful connections and built friendships whilst working at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK. He even just referred his friend, De’Andre, who started as a Mover with us earlier this month!

Ryan and Zach’s stories illustrate the incredible value that boomerang employees contribute to TWO MEN AND A TRUCK.  Upon their return, they each brought with them a fresh perspective and valuable outside experience.  Having worked here before, they also each had a sense of familiarity with TMT whether it be with our management team or fellow movers and drivers. One of our motto’s here is MOVING PEOPLE FORWARD® whether that be applied to our customers or our employees. These boomerang employees demonstrate our motto perfectly. Their return not only adds to the company’s success, but also reinforces our reputation as a place where employees can grow, learn and find fulfillment in their careers.
