MOVING CHECKLIST

Moving can be stressful under the best of circumstances. But if you get proactive you can ensure your moving day will be smooth and under control. It helps to choose the right moving company!

1. Create a Moving Timeline: Set a moving date and work backward to create a timeline for each task. This will help you allocate enough time for packing, hiring movers, and other essential activities.

2. Declutter and Organize: Before you start packing, go through your belongings and decide what to keep, donate, or discard. This will save you time and effort during the packing process.

3. Get Packing Supplies: Gather all the necessary packing materials such as boxes, bubble wrap, packing tape, markers, and packing paper. Your TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® moving consultant can help you with these. And we deliver!

4. Pack Room by Room: Begin packing one room at a time. Label each box with its contents and the room it belongs to. This will make unpacking easier at your new home.

5. Notify Important Parties: Inform your utility companies, the post office, banks, cable/wif-fi and other important parties about your upcoming move. Set up mail forwarding to ensure you don't miss any important mail.

6. Hire Professional Movers or Rent a Truck: Decide whether you'll hire professional movers or rent a moving truck. Get quotes and book well in advance to secure your preferred dates.

7. Update Your Address: Update your address with relevant organizations, such as your employer, banks, insurance providers, and any subscriptions. Don't forget to update your address with the DMV as well.

8. Pack Essentials Bag: Pack a bag with essentials like toiletries, a change of clothes, important documents, chargers, and basic kitchen items. This will come in handy during the first day in your new home.

9. Prepare for Moving Day: Disassemble furniture if necessary, disconnect appliances, and make sure everything is properly packed and labeled. Keep a toolkit handy for any last-minute adjustments.

10. Complete Final Checks: Before leaving your old home, do a final walkthrough to ensure nothing is left behind. Check all rooms, closets, and storage spaces. Double-check that all doors and windows are locked.

Moving can be overwhelming, but with a well-organized checklist, you can tackle each task systematically. This checklist will help you stay on track and minimize stress as you transition to your new home. Good luck with your move!
