Okay don't really break the glass, any glass. But as any true Floridian knows (and the newbies will soon find out) hurricane season is really just getting started. If your moving day and and activity in the Atlantic (or Gulf) seem to be on the same schedule, not to worry, after 25 years of moving South Florida forward your TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® team is prepared to handle any last minute issues. We even have a standard policy for how to handle it.
The first thing to understand is the difference between a Hurricane Watch and a Hurricane Warning. A Hurricane Watch is when a a hurricane might reach land with a 48 hour period. A Hurricane Warning is when hurricane conditions are expected within 24 hours.
During a Hurricane Watch, moving days proceed as normal. If your move is out-of-state, these will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis dependent on the expected path of the storm. It's entirely possible that the storm could bypass South Florida; but if it cuts across the state further north then it could impede our ability to cross that area. Stay in touch with your contact on our Sales and Operations teams as they will have updated information on your specific move.
During a Hurricane Warning your moving day will be rescheduled. In fact, you probably already received a phone call to discuss postponing your move or even moving it up. We will work around you at this point. After the storm threat has passed, and after we have confirmed that all of our staff are safe, we will reach back out again. (With four locations across Broward and Palm Beach we expect to have at least one office up and running pretty quickly). If it was a a Cat 1 or 2 your move will more than likely proceed as planned on the newly scheduled date. If it is a Cat 3 or higher there are more than likely environmental hazards that need to be addressed before we can proceed with your move. We will confirm that it is safe and possible to access both of your addresses and will work with you to execute your move as quickly as we can.
But until Jim Cantore shows up in the tri-county area we will continue to move South Florida forward as if the world will continue to spin.
