Unless you have been living under a rock for the past week, if you live in the South Florida tricounty area you are aware of the host of weather-related issues that plagued this past weekend. The major casualties were three boat parade cancelations and two reschedulings including the largest boat parade in the world, the Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade.
This cancelation hit exceptionally close to home for us here at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® of Fort Lauderdale as we have a long and storied history with Winterfest. Our team has been participating in the "Best Show on H2O" in various ways since 2001 and since 2020 has co-sponsored, with Florida Power and Light, the Junior Captain Showboat aboard the Carrie B. The President and CEO of our local Fort Lauderdale, Pompano Beach, Pembroke Pines, and South Palm Beach County TWO MEN AND A TRUCK offices, is the current Boat Parade Chairman. This means he applies his logistical talents (sharply-honed since 1999 as a franchisee for TWO MEN AND A TRUCK) to orchestrating all 100 boats along the New River and Intracoastal Waterway. It's a big job for someone who already has a big job. He also sits on the Winterfest Executive Board and our CMO is on the Advisory Board. Winterfest is very much a part of our TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® family.
So how do we make lemonade out of lemons? If Covid taught us nothing else...we pivot.
This Thursday the Winterfest Carrie B Junior Captain Showboat powered by FPL and moved by TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® will be participating in the (now rescheduled) CHAOS Greater Pompano Beach, Lighthouse Point, Deerfield Beach Holiday Boat Parade.
The 2023 Winterfest Jr. Captain is Ben Ayalon who is representing Freedom Waters Foundation which enhances the lives of children, individuals with special needs, and veterans by providing therapeutic boat experiences.
