We have been getting an increasing number of calls from customers moving to or from islands in Northern Michigan. We have recently moved from Beaver Island, Mackinaw Island and Drummond Island. Here is what you need to know!
When moving to or from an island, the first thing you need to consider is the ferry schedules. Some islands may have multiple Ferries. The time of the year typically determine how many trips they have a day. You will want to find out right away and may need to reserve the space well in advance to ensure availability.
As we know, Mackinaw Island does not allow vehicles. In these cases, we need to allow for more loading/unloading time. This is because our movers load your belongings to another small trolley for transport. They may need to make several trips. It takes careful planning because these trollies are often used to transport food and other goods.
There are also limited hotels for our movers to stay overnight. This is another reason that more time is needed to plan these moves. Especially in the summer, when they are booked well in advance.
Despite all these hurdles, we love island moves! Our movers enjoy visiting these beautiful places. We have a lot of fun planning and facilitating these moves. No matter where you are going, we find a way to get you there.
