When a Veteran returns to civilian life, much has often changed for them. Especially for those who were in active combat. This is why TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® started this charitable service. To serve those who have served their country well.
Why we Give Back
One of our Core Values is Giving Back to the Community. It is something our founder, Mary Ellen Sheets, founded the company on. When she started the company years ago, she split the company's first $1,000 profit between 10 charities in Lansing, Michigan. We pride ourselves on being The MOVERS WHO CARE®, always ensuring we give back to the communities we are in. After all, these communities have given so much to us.
We have several charitable programs that we operate throughout the year. In the Fall, we run these programs: Movers for Military®, Movers for Mutts®, Movers for Meals®, and Truckload of Warmth®. And from Easter to Mother's Day, we run our Movers for Moms® campaign (our largest and most successful program!). Our final program is Truckload of Cheers where we partner with Cheeriodicals to bring gifts to those in hospitals and other healthcare facilities.
Moving Veterans Forward
Usually starting in September, this campaign runs until Veteran's Day (November 11th). That is the day we drop off all the donated items to the donation center. But first, a donation center has to be selected, as well as partners for donating to the center. Some partners we work with are local schools, veteran-supporting businesses, and veteran shelters. And as you hear about opportunities to do so, people in the community can get involved as well. Just stop by our office in Ocala on SE Highway 484 to drop off items when the wish list is ready. Then on November 11th, every item will be donated directly to the donation center.
It is so important to us at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK that the brave men and women who served this country receive something in return. Especially as homeless veterans struggle day to day. Giving back to the community around us isn't just a value we hold, it is the lifeblood of our organization.
