Moving Kids Forward community campaign for DCCCA

Moving Kids Forward

Moving Kids Forward started up in the summer/fall of 2020 due to the COVID pandemic. We knew we wanted to make a positive impact in our community and bring smiles to as many kids and families that we could during a time of uncertainty, so we chose to do this through backpacks and school supplies. Our first year, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Wichita partnered with our District 6-Evergreen Neighborhood Resource Center and assisted over 300 kids in need, 1,400 kids total!  Because it was such a massive success in 2020, we decided to make this one of our yearly community campaigns. This year we chose the DCCCA organization. We assisted over 200 kids and young adults in their Family Preservation and Foster Care kids with brand new backpacks and school supplies for elementary, middle, and high school students. DCCCA is an essential non-profit organization whose focus is to deliver specialized in-home services for families that will prevent children from entering the foster care system. DCCCA has specialized intervention for substance use involved families.

Every year, we will choose an organization with kids who need new backpacks and school supplies and then team up with our community to make it happen! Donations will be collected starting the third week of June and will end the first week of August. The essential USD 259 school supply list consists of Pencils No. 2, colored pencils, pencil bags, pencil boxes, pens, 2-pocket folders, rulers, erasers/eraser heads, scissors, highlighters, loose-leaf college and wide-ruled paper, glue sticks, kleenex boxes, calculators, and 1-inch binder notebooks.

For more information about our Moving Kids Forward community campaign and how you can partner with us, please email Renee Carrion, Director of Community Engagement, at renee.carrion@twomen.com.

Because of your support, we can make this campaign successful. Thank you for helping us continue to Move Kids Forward!
