The Great Idaho Food Drive collected record breaking donations this year and Two Men And A Truck, Boise was honored to be a part of it.
KBOI in partnership with Les Schwab, Albertsons and TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, hosted the Great Idaho Food Drive, collecting non-perishable food items for the Idaho Food Bank. The need was greater than ever this year, food insecurity for families in the Treasure Valley is on the rise.
The state is facing rising levels of food insecurity. Map the Meal Gap says the state-wide food insecurity rate is nearly 13%. Smong children, it is 16%.
We were honored to be a part of the food drive for several years, providing logistics support, picking up overflow food donations at local Les Schwab tire stores and Albertsons stores throughout the Treasure Valley and stored all the donations until delivery day. Les Schwab filled 10 trucks and one trailer with food and we are happy to report that we collected enough donations to fill two of our moving trucks! The Food Bank reported that 38,000 lbs of non-perishable food was collected.
Since the drive began, the community has donated hundreds of thousands of pounds of food to The Idaho Foodbank. We appreciate the communities generosity and coming together to help those in need again this year.
