TWO MEN AND A TRUCK and Cheeriodicals build on national partnership to spread cheer to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando

After years of delivering Cheeriodicals boxes, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK’s franchise system and home office staff to participate in team building exercise.

A team from TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, the nation’s largest franchised moving company, along with Cheeriodicals, a national corporate team building and corporate gifting company, will be assembling and delivering cheer in the form of 300 big green boxes to patients at the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children during a "Cheeriodicals Day" event held on Monday, March 5. Hundreds of franchisees, managers, and corporate office staff from TWO MEN AND A TRUCK’s national Annual Meeting will be working with representatives from Cheeriodicals to assemble one-of-a-kind children’s gift boxes as a community-focused team-building activity. Cheeriodicals are "big green boxes of cheer" made up of age-appropriate magazines and activity books, room decorations, puzzles, stickers and games for the children to enjoy. Boxes will be delivered to the children’s hospital Tuesday, March 6.

Although this is the first time that the franchise system is assembling the boxes as a team building exercise, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK’s relationship with Cheeriodicals began seven years ago. The founder of Cheeriodicals, Gary Parisher, had been looking for a way to get the “big green boxes of cheer” to a hospital in Columbus, Ohio. While driving in Birmingham, Alabama, he saw a TWO MEN AND A TRUCK moving truck driving by with its motto plastered on the side: “Movers Who Care®.” He called the number and expressed his predicament. To his surprise, they told him that they’d deliver the boxes free of charge. Seven years later, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK locations across the U.S. and Canada have made more than 200 deliveries and over 50,000 boxes to children’s hospitals.

“We could not do what we do without them and this is the first time they have sponsored an event, assembled the boxes, and, of course, will deliver them in their trucks to the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children,” said Parisher. “This company is amazing and this partnership has made it possible to put a smile on the face of thousands of children.”

The boxes are tailored to boys or girls and specific age groups ranging from newborns to teenagers. For example, a 3 to 5-year-old girl box includes a top spinner, water-ring fish game, stuffed animal, plastic ball, animal and mini puzzles, modeling dough and paint, coloring books and word search booklet. They’re each carefully assembled to bring joy to the children.

“We don’t just say we’re the ‘Movers Who Care’, but our values are deeply rooted in helping those in the community,” said TWO MEN AND A TRUCK President Randy Shacka. “We are always looking for ways to give back and to help those less fortunate. After having the privilege of delivering these boxes for years, it only made sense that we come together as a system to assemble the boxes and get to experience the full team-building exercise before delivering the boxes to the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. We’re looking forward to making a difference in the lives of these children.”

Cheeriodicals Day is catching on across the country. Cheeriodicals has worked with children's hospitals in dozens of markets nationwide including: Phoenix, Birmingham, Dallas, Chicago, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, Fort Lauderdale, Columbus, New York and Washington, DC on Cheeriodicals Days and will continue working with corporate sponsors to bring cheer to children's hospitals throughout the country.

“It truly is amazing to see the positive impact that these activity gift boxes have on our young patients and their families,” said Sheri Mosely, Manager of Child Life at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. “The kids find great delight in discovering all the fun treasures inside the boxes.  We are so appreciative to have the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK team visit today to spread cheer and bring smiles throughout the hospital.”
