General “junk”
We know not all spring-cleaning means getting rid of unwanted items, so we compiled a list of a few extra tips to help kick-start your cleaning projects.
Make a Plan
Before you jump right into cleaning the first thing you see, make a plan! This will keep you on track rather than jumping around from project to project. Work on one room at a time or even one corner of a room at a time. Make sure to do something not so fun like deep cleaning the bathroom followed by something you enjoy. It makes for a small reward for getting a harder project out of the way.
Give yourself time
Spring-cleaning is not a two-hour project. Shoot! It’s not even a one-day project. Spring Cleaning takes time. Set aside some time each evening during the week to accomplish something, and then plan larger projects on the weekends when you have more time.
Purge unwanted items
Purge, Purge, Purge! We know from experience how quickly stuff piles up in homes. We see it every day. If you haven’t used in a year, get rid of it. You are never going to where that shirt from 2004. We promise. Don’t forget to clean out under your bathroom sinks. This cabinet tends to be the keeper of unwanted things!
Don’t forget your pantry and refrigerator
We open our pantry door multiple times a day with the thought that we will go through it and throw things out later. Next thing you know, you have food in there that expired in 2015! When you are spring cleaning do not forget to comb through your pantry items and refrigerator items. Last thing you want is something hiding in the back of the fridge for years!
