Community Service in Charlotte

MOVERS FOR MOMS®

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Charlotte works with two local organizations to support families in need with our Movers for Moms® donation collection. Florence Crittenton Services (FCS) promotes health and hope for tomorrow’s children by providing comprehensive health, education and social services to at-risk or pregnant adolescents and women and their families. FCS has been our Movers For Moms® beneficiary since we began our spring donation drive in 2009. To date, over 25,000 items have been collected and given to the FCS moms for Mother’s Day.

A new partner in 2017 is SafeAlliance, an organization that provides hope and healing for people in crisis. Among its many services, SafeAlliance provides shelter for survivors of domestic violence. TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Charlotte is proud to announce that the 2017 drive raised over $1,200 in donations and collected over 10,000 items!

Partnerships and Organizations

We understand the importance of giving back to the community — it's one of our core values! We like to offer our help where we know our strengths — our trucks and manpower — will be utilized. If a charity has needed something moved from Point A to Point B, chances are we have helped!

Last year we donated 589 hours of packing and moving services to area non-profits! In 2016, we are proud to have partnered with these wonderful charities and more:

Crisis Assistance Ministry

Crisis Assistance Ministry provides assistance and advocacy for people in financial crisis, helping them move toward self-sufficiency. TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Charlotte has partnered with CAM for several years picking up furniture donations for their Furniture Bank. This free furniture is used to outfit the homes of people who are transitioning out of homelessness. In 2012, we were pleased to donate a truck to their organization to aid in the growing number of donations. Most recently, we assisted in the pickup and delivery of a large gift--an entire hotel’s bedroom suits!

Classroom Central

Classroom Central equips students living in poverty to effectively learn by collecting and distributing free school supplies. They serve over 100,000 students in 6 school districts. TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® participates in the Backpacks & Basics program by transporting and assisting in the distribution of free school supplies and backpacks to the entire student body of some of the highest need schools. We visited 6 schools in the 2015-16 school year and handed out over 3,000 backpacks filled with school supplies.

Ronald McDonald House

The Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte opened its doors in 2011 to provide families of children being treated in area medical facilities with a safe, affordable and caring “home away from home.” TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Charlotte has been a proud partner even before the first guests were checked in by storing all of the House’s furnishings and moving them in free of charge. Today, we handle all overflow storage needs and our office staff volunteers to cook dinner for the families throughout the year.

Salvation Army

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Charlotte has handled various moves for the Salvation Army including the moving of their Charlotte offices, transporting brand new washers and dryers to their Supportive Housing Innovative Partnership, and providing mobile drop-off points for their Angel Tree program in December.

American Diabetes Association

The American Diabetes Association’s mission is to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Charlotte assists the Charlotte chapter by transporting the supplies for the spring Tour de Cure and the fall Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes fundraisers.

Carolina Breast Friends

Carolina Breast Friends is committed to uniting and helping women with breast cancer in all stages of survival.  TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Charlotte moved CBF into the Pink House in 2010 and assists with various storage needs. The Pink House is a “one-stop shop” serving breast cancer survivors in numerous ways including providing wellness education, mentoring and a nutrition center. During breast cancer awareness month in October, we sell pink moving boxes with a portion of all sales going towards CBF's initiatives.

Baptist Children’s Home

Baptist Children’s Homes provides programs and services for children of all ages, teen mothers, single mothers and their children, developmentally disabled adults, as well as frail and aging adults in a caring culture of measurable excellence. Every May, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Charlotte gathers canned food donations across the Metrolina region as part of their Food Roundup collection drive.

Community School of the Arts

Community School of the Arts transforms lives and inspires community through outstanding and accessible arts education. TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Charlotte helps out in any way possible, whether it is storing a 53’ trailer’s worth of donations courtesy of the Today Show’s Al Roker, or moving pianos across town for a student recital.
