Business Moves

We know that planning a move for your business can be daunting. Are you going to shut down operations during the move? How long will it take to get back up and running? Should you plan the move in parts so you can remain open while moving? These are all things to consider when you're preparing for your move.

When you are busy running a business, you want to be confident in who you hire to move your office. Making sure that any information is kept confidential and that the movers are professionals is important. Having someone available to answer any questions you have will help ease any worries you have during the move. All of our movers are fully trained, and we do not hire temporary workers to ensure that we provide the best experience for our customers.

Two Men And A Truck, Business move

We specifically train to be prepared when we get a call from a variety of businesses. We are proud to say that we are the preferred movers of some local schools, courthouses and health care facilities in Northern Michigan. 2023 was a big year for moves in this area, so we thought we would share how we have helped them facilitate a smooth move by customizing it to meet their needs.

Charlevoix County Courthouse: When moving a courthouse, it is important to remain open and running during the move. We recommend moving in two or more stages. This allows us to move one area while work is still being done in another. We scheduled plenty of time for this move and made sure to have several movers. The moves tend to get done faster with more hands. We always like to have at least four on businesses with a lot to move. Courthouses need specific estimates to share with the board. We were able to adjust the usual practice of basing the cost off time and gave them a set number. We were able to get done faster than expected, and they saved more money!

TCAPS: This school district is quickly becoming acquainted with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK NORTHERN MICHIGAN. We are working on the second move with them in a year and have had a great time working with them. They make sure to call in advance to work out the details and schedule several days in a longer period to slowly get all the rooms moved. We were provided a map of the school with colored sections to keep track of what sections are moving when. Organization and planning ahead is key!

"It has been a pleasure to work with Two Men And A Truck. Every staff member is friendly, helpful and very hard-working. They have exceeded our expectations related to the total hours required and total expenses related to our projects. I will continue to  recommend them to other businesses." - Ginger Smith, Executive Director of Marketing and Communications

There are some things to keep in mind when moving. As movers, we are not trained in disassembly of some items like commercial printers, fax machines and computers. These things will need to be done prior to the move. We also do not disassemble items that could harm someone when not being assembled properly. L-shaped desks are one of the things we do not assemble. You can be assured that anything we do take apart, we will put back together. Additionally, 4-drawer filing cabinets should be emptied prior to moving. This is not only because of the weight but also to avoid warping the thin metal.

It is a good idea to plan ahead when moving your business. It is never too early to get on our radar. There may be more planning than you expected. A good rule of thumb is to call us at least a month ahead. The more time that is needed, the earlier you will want to call to reserve your preferred date(s).
