Stress-Free College Move-In Tips

College move-in season is upon us, and we know how stressful it can be for students and parents. Starting a new chapter is exciting, but moving into a new place can be challenging. From scheduling classes to packing and buying supplies, there’s a lot to handle as the big day approaches.

At TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, we’ve learned plenty of tricks to make moving smoother and hassle-free. Moving isn’t always fun, but our tips and advice aim to make it easier so you can focus on your exciting journey ahead. Whether it’s a dorm, apartment, or house, here are some tips to ensure a successful and stress-free move.

Declutter and Organize
We tend to collect things we might not need anymore. With limited dorm space, it’s important to declutter. Create three piles: donate, throw away, and keep. Once sorted, decide what goes to school with you. Visit our office for packing supplies if needed.

Check Out the Layout
Most dorms have floor plans online. Review these before moving in, especially for larger items like a fridge. This helps prevent overpacking and lets you plan where everything will fit, making move-in smoother.

Create an Essentials Kit
An essentials kit is key to keeping stress low and ensuring you have the necessary items throughout the move. Include chargers, snacks, water, toiletries, and important documents.

Make a Plan
Preparation is key to a successful move. Create a plan to ensure the day runs smoothly. Set a specific arrival time at school and start the process. Make a checklist of needed items and mark them off as you go. Staying prepared and organized is crucial for a stress-free experience.

Don’t Forget the Fundamentals
Remember daily use items like cleaning supplies, first aid kits, personal hygiene products, and extra storage bins. These can easily be overlooked, so add them to your checklist!

Good luck with your move and the school year. If you have any questions, we’re always here to help move you forward!
