TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Campaigns

Movers for Military

Through the Movers for Military program we are able to provide critical support to veterans in need on Veteran's Day. We are currently collecting personal care items at businesses throughout Wilmington as well as our TWO MEN AND A TRUCK office. This Movers for Moms® drive will go on for the entire month of April and we will pick the items up and deliver them to the women of  Women's Lunch Place(opens in a new window) just in time for Mother's Day in mid-May. If you would like to serve as a collection partner, there is still time! Please give our office a call!

Women's Lunch Place

Mission:

Women’s Lunch Place is a safe, welcoming day shelter community providing nutritious food and individualized services for women who are experiencing homelessness or poverty. We meet our guests where they are and treat them with dignity and respect.

Programs And Services

Healthy Meals Program: Hunger and food insecurity continue to increase in our community, especially since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. WLP’s Healthy Meals Program has evolved to directly respond to this need and is at the center of our services. Our hearty takeout meals, containing breakfast, lunch, water, and snacks, provide hunger relief and reduce health risks for over 1,500 women annually. We are currently serving 200 meals daily from the shelter and are preparing and distributing an additional 1,000 meals weekly to partner organizations across the city of Boston.

Advocacy: Our Advocacy Program assists guests to overcome barriers caused by poverty and homelessness. Women work closely with our Advocates to secure permanent housing and prevent eviction, access legal aid, and connect with medical care, mental health resources, and substance use disorder treatment. As the devastating impact of the pandemic is more fully realized, our team has stepped up to meet the needs of our guests - delivering pantry boxes to elderly and medically compromised women and working with guests remotely to ensure they get the support they need.

Direct Care: In mid-March, our Direct Care team completely pivoted and has continued to adapt to meet the unique, diverse, and changing needs of our guests. Whether it’s providing a woman with toiletries, a mask and sanitizing wipes, a change of clothes, up-to-date health information, or checking in with her emotional wellbeing, our team welcomes all with dignity and respect.

Local Partners

A letter of appreciation for the support we have provided them.

Council of Social Concern

We are pleased to be able to support our local food pantry, the Council of Social Concern who completes thousands of household visits in order to help local residents meet their basic necessities for food and other services.  This council opened its doors in 1969 and began as neighbors helping neighbors with housing, childcare, and basic needs.  Today they serve communities in the Greater Boston area where residents can receive resources with dignity, respect, and an appreciation for diversity.

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping families in need build their own homes. The non-profit was founded in 1976 and has built more than 400,000 homes all over the world. Each homeowner of a Habitat home invests hundreds of hours of their own labor or "sweat equity" working alongside volunteers and Habitat home owners. We assist Habitat for Humanity by transporting donations from donors’ homes to a Habitat Restore where the items are sold to raise money for Habitat for Humanity's mission of eliminating substandard housing.

Mission of Deeds

Mission of Deeds is a non-profit organization that provides basic home essentials to those in need. Mission of Deeds serves men, woman, and children of all ages including the previously homeless, survivors of domestic abuse, the elderly, veterans, and those with disabilities. Their sole mission is to provide basic home necessities without charge to those in need. We are able to help Mission of Deeds by providing our moving services to those who may not be able to afford renting a truck or hiring movers.

Move For Hunger

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK is proud to work alongside Move For Hunger as they fulfill their mission to ensure that everyone has enough to eat.  We schedule donation pick-ups with local apartment complexes that have participated in food drives and we get those items to local food pantries so they can supply those in need in our communities with healthy food.

The Boston Marathon

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Wilmington and The Boston Athletic Association partner together yearly to assist in the delivery of 26 medical tents along the Boston Marathon route, which starts in Hopkinton, Massachusetts, and ends on Boylston Street in Boston. TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® has donated several trucks and man hours for the past four years to ensure that the marathon operations run smoothly. TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® is proud to announce that we will once again be official contributors again this coming year for the 2020 Boston Marathon!
