Giving Back to the Community

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Campaigns

Movers for Moms®

Each year, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® locations across the United States collect items for distribution to local women’s and family shelters for delivery on Mother’s Day.

Mother’s Day should be a joyous occasion for mothers and their families. Unfortunately for some women, that’s not always the case. TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® is doing our part in hopes of changing that with Movers for Moms®, a program where we collect essential items that will be delivered to women living at shelters on Mother’s Day. Serene Harbor (a domestic violence shelter) has been our Shelter Partner for many years now and they are always so appreciative and grateful to our community for the generous donations made every year.

We want to give a big shout out to our Community Partners who help us with the success of our annual collection drives. WSBH 98.5 FM The Beach Radio provides us with numerous Public Service Announcements throughout April and the first part of May. They also add us to their daily "Lunch on the Beach" segments that are held at a local restaurant. They give some of our SWAG to anyone bringing by a donated item for Movers for Moms®. This is always above and beyond the PSAs provided. The three campuses of Calvary Chapel of Melbourne, Sebastian and Viera set aside one weekend for their congregation to bring in donations for Movers for Moms®. They not only collect the items for us, but their volunteers go as far as counting the items and boxing up these items for easy delivery to our Shelter Partner. This is Calvary Chapel's 5th year of participation and they are, by far, our largest source of donations. SeaCoast Bank has joined our campaign again this year by allowing us to place a collection box in their lobby. We are very thankful to all of our Community Partners and their loyal listeners, customers and clients and our amazing community for their help in making this a very successful drive.

Movers for Moms® Charity - Serene Harbor

2018 was the 11th year for the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Movers for Moms® program, and the Brevard County franchise’s 8th year participating. We joined the Movers for Moms® program to support the less fortunate women at Serene Harbor by making this Mother’s Day a little bit happier for them. In Brevard County, we collected essential items for Serene Harbor, a domestic violence shelter. For over 26 years, Serene Harbor has been providing safe, confidential services such as a 24/7 confidential hotline, safety planning, emergency shelter, legal advocacy, counseling, and outreach to over 27,000 women and children in Brevard. Each year, we touch the lives of over 1,300 survivors and provide over 5,800 nights of shelter.

We are pleased to announce we made our delivery to Serene Harbor on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, with more than 4,400 items donated by our very generous community.  We delivered items from the Serene Harbor wish list which included cleaning products, personal care items, school supplies, food and clothing.  Some of our community members actually donated a few "gift sets" which was very kind and generous.

2019 Toy Drive

It’s that time of year again! We are taking the initial steps to ensure we have an amazing and successful annual Toy Drive benefitting the Early Learning Coalition (ELC). TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Brevard is once again partnering with the ELC, WSBH 98.5FM “The Beach” Radio, Giant Recreational RV World, Sam’s Club Cocoa and Mattress Market for this exciting event.

There are numerous local companies who have agreed to be a collection site for this important annual event. We appreciate your help and support in helping to make this a fun, enjoyable and meaningful holiday season for the ELC families.

In December 2018, we held four “Fill the Truck” events over the period of one week. Our partners allowed us to park our truck in front of their stores and collect the toys donated by their Customers and other residents of the area who just stopped by to make a donation. We wrapped up the 2018 toy Drive with some amazing and heart-warming numbers. To date, 2018 was our largest toy collection ever and we were able to help 52 families celebrate Christmas. Each of the 158 children (ranging from infant to 16 years of age) received at least 8 toys each. That is a collection of over 1,200 items for these needy families. Thank you Brevard County for your continued support in our efforts to help our community. We are certain you will also be there to help us have another successful toy drive for 2019.

Cocoa Beach Regional Chamber of Commerce "50th Annual Gala"

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Brevard loves giving back to the community and assisting other organizations throughout the year.  For instance, in January 2018, we were one of the sponsors for the Cocoa Beach Regional Chamber of Commerce 50th Annual Gala.  They were celebrating 50 years in Brevard County!   We provided our truck and services to move over 300 chairs, 30 large tables and other banquet materials in and out of Port Canaveral Cruise Terminal 1.  For more information about this annual event, contact the Cocoa Beach Regional Chamber of Commerce at 321-459-2200 or visit their website at

DAILY BREAD

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® has partnered with Daily Bread(opens in a new window) to pick up food donations for the Letter Carriers' "Stamp Out Hunger" Food Drive, as well as donations made by Daily Bread for our Movers for Moms® program.

Recognized by Florida Today as the 2015 Volunteer Organization of the Year, Daily Bread’s volunteers serve the community with the vision of ensuring everyone has access to the food and social services necessary to become self-sufficient. More than just a soup kitchen that serves a large midday meal to an average of 234 people each day, Daily Bread provides services such as: access to showers, clean clothing, a mail stop, assistance in obtaining Florida identification, employment readiness, counseling, housing assistance, and health screenings.

Through local community partnerships, Daily Bread’s food distribution network collects and distributes over a million pounds of food to assist over 24 local food pantry partners. This is a new partnership and TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Brevard looks forward to working with Daily Bread for many years to come.

EARLY LEARNING COALITION OF BREVARD

The Early Learning Coalition of Brevard and its generous community partners for the last several years have partnered with local community businesses to bring an amazing holiday season of giving to children in need. Along with The Beach, 98.5 FM, Sam's Club in Melbourne, Sam's Club in Cocoa and many other local companies, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Brevard has supported this remarkable event and continues to demonstrate its commitment to the community in so many ways. TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Brevard has been a special Toy Drive partner and continues to donate their valuable resources to assist with the collection of toys throughout the county every year!  The receiving families are nominated by local people who are aware of their situation.

In December 2018, we held four “Fill the Truck” events over the period of one week.  Sam’s Club of Cocoa and Sam’s Club of West Melbourne were kind enough to allow us to park our truck in front of their stores and collect the toys donated by their Customers and other residents of the area who just stopped by to make a donation.

We wrapped up the 2018 Toy Drive with some amazing and heart-warming numbers. To date, this was our largest toy collection ever and we were able to help 52 families celebrate Christmas. Each of the 158 children (ranging from infant to 16 years of age) received at least 8 toys each. That is a collection of over 1,200 items for these needy families. Thank you Brevard County for your continued support in our efforts to help our community.

The past recipients of the generously donated gifts were extremely grateful and emotional, and expressed much appreciation to the donors and the community as they received the gifts for their children.  We expect the same response each year as our collections seem to increase.   Many of the families were experiencing times of great transition and challenges such as homelessness and significant economic struggles. The Early Learning Coalition of Brevard serves 3,300 children a month through the School Readiness program which provides assistance with the high cost of quality child care for low- income working families.  While families work toward self-sufficiency, their children have access to early childhood education programs which prepare them for future school success. An additional 550 children are on the waiting list for such services.

ECKERD KIDS

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Brevard is proud to be the recipient of the Treasure Category for the “2017 Children’s Hero of the Year” award sponsored by Eckerd Kids.

One of our Core Values at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® is “give back to the community”. The Brevard County Franchise fully believes in giving back, and we work with numerous organizations throughout each year to help families in need.  We were recognized for our work helping organizations such as Early Learning Coalition, Serene Harbor, Brevard Family Partnership, and the Michael-Gene Kids Basketball Foundation.

More than 45 years ago, Jack and Ruth Eckerd founded Eckerd Kids as a way to help 25 children and their families get a second chance. Since that pioneering day back in 1968, Eckerd Kids has helped nearly 200,000 families get the second chance that each of them deserves.

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Brevard is honored to have received this award in recognition of “giving back” to our community.
