A Day in the Life of a Move Consultant

When someone starts their job search, one of the most important questions on their mind is: what is a day like working at this job? At TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, we want to ensure everyone has the best experience as a customer and as an employee. That is why we reached out to one of our move consultants to see what a day is like for her in the office. In this post, we'll be hearing from Rebecca from TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Ocala and The Villages.

What is an average day like for you in the office?

I wish I could say what an average day is like, but no one day is ever the same as the next. With each call I take or make, I never know whom I could be helping. Be it newlyweds looking to combine households into what will be their new family home to assisting a family looking to dividing their late parents' estate amongst the children.

Can you share an example of a challenging customer interaction and how you resolved it?

One of the challenges I face in estimating is when I encounter customers who have what are considered specialty items, as most do not understand why we charge extra fees to move more cumbersome furnishings (gun safes or pianos). In most cases, with a quick google search, I am able to express why we stand out over most companies. With the advanced moving equipment like our safe dollies and baby grand piano lifts, we can move the items with ease and avoid strain on our moving crew.

What is the most rewarding thing about working for TWO MEN AND A TRUCK?

The most rewarding part of working with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® is the client relationships! Having the trust of customers where any time they move, or need any sort of services, they call asking for myself specifically on how to coordinate their next move.

What have you learned in this position that you didn't realize you would?

By far, the biggest lesson I have learned with working for TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® has been patience.

What is the most interesting move you have ever booked?

The most interesting move of mine by far has been one where I was informed of normal household furnishings, and upon our crew arriving, they found a massive seven by seven-foot entertainment center. The entertainment center took six of our team, including management coming out to supervise, to move it safely.
