Stay on track during your next home move with these 5 overlooked moving essentials

Moving is a stressful process, whether you’re moving down the road or across the country. But planning and thinking ahead about what you will need is a great way to stay on top of your move to help it go smoothly!

Whether you’re moving into your first apartment or a new home, here at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK, we know how stressful moving can be, which is why we came up with five moving essentials that can easily be overlooked but are important to have as you gear up for your move.

Check out the list below to make sure you have the necessities before moving so, you can stay organized on moving day.

Moving checklists

Planning and organizing ahead of time will help reduce stress leading up to the move and on moving day. To get ahead create a moving checklist, which will help you stay on track with your packing, and layout everything that needs to get done before the big day. Topics to include on your list could be researching and reserving a moving company, cleaning out spaces, changing your address, hosting a garage sale, packing etc. If you need help creating that moving checklist, check out these steps.

Cleaning supplies

This one may seem simple but can be easily forgotten: cleaning supplies. Cleaning supplies are a necessity to have on hand when you move into your new space. Putting together a little basket with antibacterial wipes, disinfecting spray, and an all-purpose cleaner so they’re readily available will ease the stress just in case a little cleanup is necessary.

Charges and batteries

With technology right at our fingertips and it being the main way many people communicate, it’s important to set aside all your chargers for your electronics so you know where they’re and can easily access them when your devices need some battery life.

Plastic bags

Before you dispose of all those extra plastic bags you probably have sitting in a cabinet, keep some aside for the day of your move. Plastic bags are great for the few miscellaneous items that didn’t get packed away but are heading to the new space. In addition, to plastic bags you may want to pack some garage bags with you just in case you have a little clean up to do at the old place or need to do some during the move.

Tool kit

Whether you’re disassembling furniture in your old place or putting together items in your new space, a tool kit is great to have on hand. It won’t only help you throughout your move, but also if something comes up and needs to be fixed when you’re settled in you can easily grab it and tend to whatever needs some adjusting.
