Get ready for moving day with these 5 overlooked moving essentials

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK movers

Moving your home can be an exciting time, but it can also be an extremely busy time as you sell your home, buy a new one, pack up your things, and transport them from one place to the next.

On top of that there’s plenty of other tasks which need to be completed before  moving day, such as changing your address, setting up utilities, and much, much more. With so many big-ticket items on the to-do list, there is plenty that can get overlooked while you navigate through the process of moving – we like to call these the “overlooked moving essentials”.

These are things that might not be top of mind while you’re getting ready for a move, but they’re very important and can go a long way in ensuring you have a successful, stress-free moving day!

Build yourself a moving checklist

Organization and planning ahead are two major keys to a successful home move. The best way to do both is by making a moving checklist to guide you along the way. This helps you visualize the timeline leading up to moving day and gives you a map for what is completed, what needs to be done, and what’s on the horizon.

Get some cleaning supplies for moving day

If you’ve ever moved into a new place before, you’ll know that it doesn’t really feel right until you give it a good clean. This is why we recommend  customers have cleaning supplies ready to go so that when they arrive at their new home, they can do a quick scrub of the main areas of the house before they begin the unpacking process.

Have plastic bags on hand

Want an easy but effective tip that will almost certainly help on moving day? Pack some plastic bags! They’re usually lying around your home anyway, so get a handful together and keep them ready for moving day. They will help with anything that you forgot to pack, food, beverages, or whatever else you need to carry from your old home to the new one.

Get your chargers and batteries together

Technology runs the world now, and it  requires a lot of charging cables and batteries. The last thing you want on moving day is for your phone to die or a Bluetooth speaker to lose its charge, so make sure to have your chargers and some extra batteries packed into a bag so you can be ready for any situation that might occur.

Make sure to get a tool kit

This may seem obvious, but it’s worth remembering! Whether it’s for assembling or disassembling furniture or fixing something at the new home, a tool kit is important to have on hand as , you’d rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
