Later this week, the country will celebrate Veteran’s Day – honoring and recognizing the brave men and women who have served this country, thanking them for their courageous service.
The TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® brand has been powered by the hard work of veterans for years, and all throughout the franchise network, you’ll find veterans working at each level of the company – from movers and drivers all the way up to franchise managers and franchisees, and even our Michigan Support Center corporate office. However, not all veterans are fortunate enough to receive the honor and recognition they deserve.
In fact, many are struggling in their day-to-day lives to make ends meet or acquire the essentials they need to live.. This was the driving inspiration behind the Movers for Military® program, which was designed so TWO MEN AND A TRUCK franchises could collect and deliver essential care items for veterans in need. Franchises partner with local businesses and organizations to set up collection sites for the public to drop off these items, and TWO MEN AND A TRUCK teams will collect and deliver them to a partner shelter or organization that supports veterans.
“One of the most rewarding aspects of hosting a Movers for Military campaign is the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of those who have served our country,” said Gaby Mariduena, marketing coordinator for TWO MEN AND A TRUCK San Diego. “It’s a chance to give back to our veterans and active-duty service members, showing our appreciation for their sacrifices and dedication to our nation.”
Given the nature of this program, the reception in the community is always a positive one, and people are always willing to help and give back to the veterans in need.
“Each year, we do get more than the previous year. Sometimes, we have hundreds of boxes of items that we need to donate. The city does come together to help our veterans,” said Enrique Alvarez, manager of the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK San Diego franchise.
It’s an important cause to be a part of, but it’s also a moment for the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK franchise team members to break up the daily rhythm of the job, get out in the community, and make a difference for those who need it.
With so many franchises having veteran team members of their own, the work they’re able to do assisting with Movers for Military often resonates strongly, and it makes the work even more special.
“We have multiple managers, movers and drivers, our director of operations, and staff spouses/family that are veterans or active-duty military,” said Amanda Wokal, multi-unit marketing manager for TWO MEN AND A TRUCK in Texas. “We find it important to give back to those who have sacrificed their lives to protect our country and unfortunately in Dallas, there are way too many veterans living on the streets without access to the necessary care they deserve.”
