Ames Community Involvement

Movers For Moms® is a drive we host around Mother’s Day to collect personal care items for mothers and children living at the Children & Families of Iowa Domestic Violence Shelter in Des Moines. We partner with Hy-Vee, KDSM Fox 17, and other local businesses and senior living communities to make this drive a success. Both initiatives have collected more than 9,000 items each in recent years!

Every fall, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Des Moines and Ames partners with Winter Warmth Drive(opens in a new window) and local schools to collect & distribute winter wear to the community. 2020's drive is a little different than years past, but we are still collecting winter coats, snow pants, boots, hats, gloves, and scarves in all sizes to pass out to children and families in need. You can drop off your donations at our office or at the Valley Community Center(opens in a new window) in West Des Moines during the location's office hours. We also have virtual options for donating. We have an Amazon Wish List that automatically has the items sent to our office. The link for the Wish List is here(opens in a new window). You can also make a monetary donation(opens in a new window) on the Winter Warmth Drive website which all proceeds will go to buying winter wear items. The drive ends on October 31st.
