Step-by-Step Instructions
-
1Step 1Create a Plan
Like most home gyms, chances are you have multiple pieces of equipment that need to be transported. The first step is to create a plan as to how you will need to move these items. A couple questions to ask yourself is, do you need a moving truck or a regular pickup? Will you need a couple friends to help you? How long do you think the process will take roughly? Asking yourself these types of questions will help create a solid plan come move day.
-
2Step 2Measure All Doorways and Entryways
Use a tape measurer to measure all areas that your exercise equipment will be moving through. Some exercise equipment like a Smith Machine or a Bowflex will have a hard time being moved through a regular home, so knowing the exact measurements of your equipment and hallways/entryways will ensure a stress-free move day.
-
3Step 3Disassemble any Gym Equipment that can be Disassembled
This step will largely depend on the type of exercise equipment and the manufacturer. There are varying types of gym equipment and some items that can be easily made ready to move than others. You will want to determine if there is a piece of gym equipment that can be disassembled so that transporting the item will be hassle-free. Be sure to look up any disassembly/assembly directions on the manufacturers website to properly take apart your equipment and put it back together.
-
4Step 4Use Proper Techniques When Lifting
Using proper lifting techniques is no stranger to the workout world and our movers at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK also know a thing or two about proper lifting. To ensure safety when moving any heavy item, engage your legs when moving your gym equipment and enlist the help of a friend for the larger items.
-
5Step 5Load and Secure Exercise Equipment in the Moving Truck
With the help of a friend, begin moving your exercise equipment into the moving truck, navigating all doorways, hallways, and stairs. Use ratchet straps to secure the exercise equipment to the truck you are using and moving blankets in areas where equipment could be scratched from metal rubbing against metal.
-
6Step 6Unload Gym Equipment At New Location
After making the drive, unload your gym equipment at your new home. Proper lifting techniques still apply and be sure to reference your manufacturer’s manual again when reassembling your equipment.
