One big question we always get: When is the best time to book a home move?
If you’ve never hired professional movers before, this is a valid question, and there are plenty of factors that go into determining the best time for you to book your move. Below, we’ve covered three important areas to consider to help make your decision!
Regardless of your desire moving date, you need to plan ahead
We cannot stress this part enough: book your move in advance!
No matter what time of the year you’re thinking about hiring professional movers, you’ll want to call at least one month ahead of your desired moving date to get on their schedule. During the busy season, schedules fill up fast, so you’ll want to give yourself some time to make sure you’re able to secure the day you want.
Weekend moves vs. weekday moves
Building off the point above, it should come as no surprise that given the normal constraints of a Monday-Friday work schedule, most people are looking to schedule home moves on the weekends. If you’re able to get time off and schedule a move during the week, you’ll certainly have more availability to choose from. However, if you’re looking to get a move done on Friday or Saturday, you’ll have to plan ahead.
The busy moving season vs. the rest of the year
We pointed it out now, but we’re finally entering what we consider to be the busy moving season, which goes from the beginning of April until the end of August. With the way school schedules work, coupled with the warm months during the summer, this often lines up as the best time for people to complete a home move.
As we’ve mentioned above, if you’re planning to move within this timeframe, you’ll need to plan ahead and try to get your move scheduled well in advance of your desired moving date to ensure you’re able to get on the schedule.
