May is National Moving Month, and TWO MEN AND A TRUCK teams everywhere are hard at work moving our customers forward!
Now is the time to get your move on the books if you’re thinking about relocation in 2026, as our franchise’s schedules are filling up fast. It’s also a good time to begin prepping for your move, as properly preparing and planning can make a huge difference in the level of stress you experience on moving day.
Hiring a professional moving team from TWO MEN AND A TRUCK is a great way to eliminate stress on moving day, but you can also eliminate stress by being organized and planning to make sure you’re ready to go when the movers arrive at your door. One of the best ways to get ready is by knowing what professional movers CAN’T move.
Below, we’ve covered a few key items we are unable to handle during the home moving process, so you’re ready to roll on moving day. Follow along!
Flammable Items
These types of items might not be top of mind when getting ready to move, but it’s important to pay attention so you don’t try to pack them up. Anything from car batteries to antifreeze, ammunition, propane, paint, household cleaners, and weed killer would be considered a “no-go” on moving day.
Gas or Machine Items
Grills, tractors, smokers, or lawn mowers – anything that takes gasoline – needs to be moved separately by you, as they can’t be loaded into our moving trucks.
Medication and Prescription Drugs
For precautionary reasons, we ask that customers not pack any medication in boxes that will be going on the truck. With your items being stored away in our trucks, it makes it very difficult to obtain them after they have been loaded up, which isn’t ideal if you find yourself needing them.
Pack these items in a separate bag or container that you’ll have with you on moving day to avoid any trouble.
Anything Living
It may seem obvious, but we still like to remind customers that we can’t move anything living, such as pets or plants. This is for safety reasons only, as it’s not safe for them to be in the back of a hot, crowded moving truck. For more information on how to safely move pets, click here.
Sentimental Items
What we classify as “sentimental” would be anything like cash, insurance papers, birth certificates, jewelry, or family heirlooms. This will prevent the unfortunate situation where an item gets lost, misplaced, or damaged, and will eliminate any scenario where you’re left trying to find a way to replace them, which can be difficult for items of this nature. It’s best to arrange for these things to be transported with you on your way to the new house.
