Parent helping their child prepare for a new school year

Just like that, the summer has somehow passed us by and it’s time for students to start preparing for a return to the classroom!

While it’s sad to see summer vacation come to an end, returning to school can be an exciting time for students of all ages. Sometimes this excitement can also come with stress and anxiety about having new teachers, meeting new students, and getting the right school clothes and supplies picked out.

Put those worries aside, as your friends at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® have a few back to school tips to help get your student’s mind right and ready for another successful year!

Create a new school year routine

Back to school can become a busy time, so building a routine in advance of the school year can go a long way in keeping everyone on track with where they need to be and what they need to do.

Start practicing this new school routine (bedtime, waking up, etc.) in the weeks leading up to the first day of school to help work it into your daily schedule. This way, it won’t be a surprise once the real thing gets here!

Meet your new teachers

It can be nerve-wracking meeting new teachers for the first time. Many schools offer orientation days and open houses prior to the start of school so students can get a chance to meet their teachers and see the classrooms, and it’s a great idea to take advantage of these opportunities!

Take your children school shopping

Whether it’s for school supplies or new school clothes, taking your kids school shopping can be an exciting time and can help get them in the right frame of mind about school. Allowing them to pick out a few things they want can bring a positive outlook, which will make those first few weeks in the classroom much more enjoyable.

Research after-school activities

These are a great way to continue building positive relationships outside of the classroom, which can lead to more friends and connections for your student! Whether it’s a club, sport, or extracurricular activity, encouraging your student to get out and try something new can be a refreshing and rewarding experience for them.

Pack your bookbag and pick out clothes the night before the first day of school

This is a good way to get them ready for the first day, and it keeps you on scheduled and prepared for that first morning of getting ready for school. You never know how the first morning will go, so giving yourself extra time by being prepared the night before can go a long way!
