When you’re on the road and pass by a truck with the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® logo on it or see movers loading furniture out of our truck and into a home, you may think we’re just another moving company, but we’re much more than that.
For the past 16 years, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK franchises have made a difference in their communities by helping moms in need each spring through the Movers for Moms® campaign.
Movers for Moms is TWO MEN AND A TRUCK’s national giving program and has grown tremendously over the years. In 2007, it started off as a statewide program in Michigan and in 2014, became a national program for all U.S. TWO MEN AND A TRUCK locations.
Andrea Benitez, the marketing coordinator for Ocala, Fla., said her favorite part about Movers for Moms is seeing how her small community comes together to help the cause.
“I have partners that have been supporting us for seven years, they tell me they are always looking forward to the start of the campaign, and for the day I drop the collection box to start collecting items,” Benitez said.
Throughout the program’s history, nearly 2 million items have been donated to help moms in need. In 2022, more than 266,000 items were collected and donated to hundreds of shelters across the U.S.
To try and collect as many donations as possible franchises team up with community partners such as local businesses, organizations, and schools. Some locations even host events to spread the word about the campaign and collect additional donations. Once the collection is complete, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK crews pick up the items and deliver them to their shelter partners around Mother’s Day.
TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Huntsville, Ala., Marketing Director Stephanie Mills believes it’s important to run Movers for Moms because it provides for an area that is often overlooked.
“It is an opportunity to get the word out about a very important and serious problem. Lastly, it brings the community together in a way that will bless those who are less fortunate,” Mills said. “They are still a part of the community too and when you take care of your community, the whole city thrives!”
The goal for 2023 is to collect 300,000 items for women and family shelters across the U.S.
