Home moving can be an emotionally taxing process, as you work to pack up your personal belongings and move from a place you’ve called home to somewhere new.
At TWO MEN AND A TRUCK, we pride ourselves on offering a high quality moving experience for our customers, and we go above and beyond to ensure we eliminate as much stress and worry as possible during this chaotic time. This starts with using only full-time, professionally trained moving team members who are drug screened and background checked on our moves to provide you with peace of mind throughout the process.
However, given the nature of moving, damage may occur in rare instances. While we do our best to prevent this from happening, there are circumstances where it may arise. In such instances, we offer a moving coverage option called valuation to help.
What is valuation? Let’s discuss below!
What is valuation?
The most important takeaway from everything written here should be this: valuation is NOT insurance. Valuation is the mover’s liability, while insurance is an entirely different agreement between the customer and an insurance company.
With valuation, it measures the levels of liability a moving company assumes for the damage or loss of household goods during the moving process, and it’s broken down into two options:
Full Value Protection: The highest level of protection, which increases the cost of your move. The mover is liable for the full replacement value of damaged or lost belongings, with a minimum amount of liability equal to at least $6.00 per pound.
Released Value Protection: The lower-level option for protection, where the moving company’s liability is limited to a minimum amount of 60 cents per pound per article.

When should you get valuation?
Purchasing valuation on a move is a great option for those who are moving sentimental items such as family heirlooms. As we mentioned above, damage is unlikely, but in the rare instance they occur, valuation can be an additional form of coverage on your belongings.
It is strongly recommended that you work with a TWO MEN AND A TRUCK customer service representative to discuss all your options, what you’re moving, and how much the move would cost with and without valuation, to get a better picture of your options.
