Home moving can come with a lot of stress, but it can also be a very exciting time for you or your family as you transition from one living space to another.
Whatever your reasons might be for moving, there is plenty to think about leading up to moving day. You need to figure out when you’re moving, how to pack up all your things, and most importantly HOW you’re going to move all your belongings. Some people try doing it all themselves – which presents its own set of challenges – while other trust the help of professionals like our teams at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK.
With the busy moving season just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about which avenue you want to take and if you’re going to hire a professional moving company to get the job done for you.
We’ve come up with three important factors you should consider before hiring professional movers and scheduling a moving date. Check out the information below and see how they fit into your personal plans. For all additional moving questions you might have, check out our moving FAQs blog, here.
1. Plan ahead of your desired moving date
No matter what time of year you’re thinking about moving, you should try to map out your schedule well in advance of your desired moving date. At TWO MEN AND A TRUCK, our schedules fill up fast, so we recommend customers call a month in advance of when you’d like to move at the minimum.
This way, you have a better chance of securing the moving date you had in mind to fit better with your moving plans.
2. Moving on the weekend vs. moving during the week
Considering the normal Monday through Friday work schedule of most people, it should come as no surprise that weekends are the busiest times for TWO MEN AND A TRUCK. This is something to keep in mind as you start planning your move.
If you have more flexibility in your life, and you can get away with moving during the week you will have more options to choose from. If you need to move on a weekend, then you’ll want to make sure to follow our advice in the section above and try to schedule something well in advance.
3. Factoring in “busy move season”
Building off the point above, there is what we consider the “busy moving season”, which runs from the beginning of May through August. This fits into the general summer season and school being done for students, so families have more time to plan for a move and get it done.
If you are trying to move in this time frame, it’s worth repeating what we’ve said above: schedule well in advance! If you are able to move in the fall or winter seasons, you’ll have much more availability with your TWO MEN AND A TRUCK moving team.
