Gumball Machine Boxtume

Directions

Step 1: Take a medium-sized box and a large clear plastic bowl and trace the bowl.

Step 2: After you trace the bowl, take a pencil and sketch out the top and bottom of the machine.

Step 3: Next, take a boxcutter and cut out the machine. Make sure to keep your scraps, as you will use some of these later.

Step 4: To create the gumballs, you can use colorful ping-pong balls, or you can get white ones and spray-paint them. If you’re spray painting them, give them 2-3 coats and time to dry.

Step 5: The next step is to paint your gumball machine!

Step 6: Once your ping-pong balls are all set, and the outline of your gumball machine is dry, put the bowl face down on white poster board, trace the bowl, and then cut it out. Then turn the bowl over, add ping-pong balls and glue to the rim of the bowl, and take the poster board you just cut out, placing it on the top of the bowl. Then glue the poster board to the gumball machine cut out.

Step 7: From your box scraps, cut out a small to medium-sized rectangle and cover it with tin foil. Once covered, take a permanent marker to outline where the knob and turn style is.

Step 8: Lastly, take a crayon and break it apart and cover it with tinfoil to create the turner.

Step 9: Once it’s all set, glue it onto the machine.

Step 10: At this point, you’re probably wondering how to wear it! At the top you can either put two holes in and use ribbon to create straps or take a pair of children’s suspensers and glue where the suspenders intersect to make it adjustable.
