To help explain, we spoke with Adriana, Customer Service Specialist at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® San Diego. She shared why this can happen and what customers can do to help avoid surprises on moving day.
Why can the final price change?
The estimate is based on the information we receive before the move. If something changes, the final cost can change too.
She explains that this doesn't happen on every move, but it can happen if the moving team arrives and finds that the job is different than expected.
For example, there may be more boxes than originally listed, several flights of stairs, a long walk from the truck to the home, or large furniture that wasn't included during the estimate.

How can I help keep my estimate accurate?
- Give a complete list of the items you're moving.
- Let us know if your home has stairs, elevators, or a long walk from the truck.
- Tell us about oversized or specialty items, such as safes, pianos, or large exercise equipment.
- Try not to add extra furniture or boxes after your estimate is complete.
- Ask questions if there is anything on your estimate that you don't understand.
