The calendar is quickly moving through the month of October, and we have our second TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Halloween Boxtume tutorial of the year to unveil!
Last week, we kicked off boxtume season with our Fidget Spinner creation, and you can find the tutorial for that boxtume here. Today, we are ready with our second idea for 2026: a Present!
As a refresher, “boxtumes” are fun, DIY craft ideas we come up with every year at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK that help make easy Halloween costumes out of old moving boxes and supplies you can generally find around your home. They’re intended to be quick and simple so you can have fun while making them.
Now, let’s go over the tutorial for the Present boxtume!
What you’ll need:
- 1 medium or large cardboard box
- Wrapping paper
- Pencil
- Tape
- Scissors
- Ribbon or bows
- Heavy-duty string
- Heavy-duty glue
Instructions:
Step 1: Choose Your Box
Pick a medium or large cardboard box that fits comfortably around your child. Push all the box flaps inward so the box is open on the top and bottom.
Step 2: Pick Your Wrapping Paper
Choose your favorite wrapping paper! Pick a fun pattern or color that will make your present costume stand out.
Step 3: Measure Your Wrapping Paper
Place the box on the wrapping paper. Using a pencil, trace around each side of the box to figure out how much wrapping paper you’ll need.
Step 4: Cut It Out
Carefully cut out the pieces of wrapping paper you have traced.
Step 5: Wrap Your Box
Put a piece of tape on each corner of the wrapping paper and carefully attach it to the box. Continue wrapping and taping until every side of the box is covered.
Step 6: Add Some Sparkle!
Now it’s time to decorate! Add ribbon, bows, or any other fun decorations to make your present costume extra special.
Step 7: Create the Straps
Finally, use heavy-duty string to create straps so the costume can be worn. Glue one end of the string to each side of the top edges of the box to create two shoulder straps.
Let the glue dry completely before putting on the costume.
Step 8: Now, You’re Ready to Go!
Once everything is dry and secure, put on your present costume and get ready for a fun Halloween night!
