TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® just moved you... Now what? We know moving can be overwhelming, so we compiled a list of helpful tasks to do the first week of moving in.
- Change the locks- If buying an older home, you never know who has a copy of your house key. Changing the locks will give you peace of mind knowing that you and your family will be the only ones with access to your home. Nowadays, many people choose to get a smart lock to not have to carry a house key.
- Replace the fire extinguisher- Safety should always be your first priority. You never know when you will have a fire!
- Change the Furnace Filter- A five-minute project that can prevent loads of headache down the road. An old filter can make your furnace work harder which can lead to it running inefficiently or breaking.
- Clean the Dryer Vent- Similar to the furnace filter, it is unknown when the vent was last cleaned. In order to prevent using the new fire extinguisher, clean out the dryer vent of years of lint!
- Find all the Shut-Off Locations- In the event of an emergency, you don't want to be scrambling to find the shutoffs. Make sure to locate the water shut-off, gas shut-off, and electrical panel for ease of mind.
- Find Local Facebook Groups- Local Facebook groups are a great way to connect with your new community and find out about local events. Follow the Daytona Beach Two Men and a Truck Facebook page to see our upcoming events!
- Change Your Address- You want to make sure you can receive your mail. Go online or in-person to your nearest post office to change your address.
- Celebrate!- Explore the town and enjoy a delicious meal at a local restaurant. You earned it!
